After attending one of our Humane Education activities, Katharine & Lauren decided they wanted to do what they could to help the animals. These two generous ladies donated all the money they had. It was more important for them that the money be used to help the animals rather than to buy toys. Our thanks go out to both Katharine & Lauren for their generosity.

They're at it again! A year ago, Caleb and Talia so enjoyed their time in our Humane Action League that they donated a basket full of goodies. Proving they're proud to be lifetime supporters of the shelter, they returned this year with another basket of donations. Not only was Chase excited to see them again, but so were all of us. Thanks for your continued support Caleb and Talia!

Abby, Zach, Avery, and Brady are all siblings. They know how great it is to share. They donated bedding, food and other great things to help out their animal friends, and also spent some quality time with the animals. Thank you Abby, Zach, Avery, and Brady for thinking of us!

Keeping true to the holiday season this group of Old Orchard Beach High School students made some lovely sand dollar ornaments for us. These ornaments will be given out to adopters for the holidays. Thank you so much for your generosity!

Meet Daniel and Camden, a couple of kids who wanted to do right by all the animals currently residing at our shelter. They made a very generous donation of food so the animals will have plenty to eat for some time to come. Then they spent some quality time with a couple of the many kittens we've had available for adoption. Our thanks to Daniel and Camden.

Emma and Abby are two more great examples of kids in our community who want to do all they can to help animals in need. Together they amassed a generous donation of food and money for the shelter. Here the two ladies are having fun with a couple of the many kittens we've had available for adoption. Thanks Emma & Abby!

Meet a family that truly knows about love and caring for those in need. These six siblings wanted to do their part to help the animals we care for, so they brought in a sizable donation which included towels and blankets. All of theme were so impressed with the shelter that they're interested in becoming volunteers in the future. Our thanks to them and hopefully we see them again real soon.

Emma and Aidan are new to Maine, having just moved from Tennessee. They're both big animal lovers, so when they found the AWS, they knew they wanted to help. They decided to raise money for the shelter by making and selling soap! Yes handcrafted soap, which they sold to family and friends. Here are the two creative ladies enjoying time with some of the many kittens we get in to the shelter. Thanks for your donation and generosity, Emma and Aidan!

These kids from Forever Young Child Care love animals and they came to the Animal Welfare Society with a donation. We greatly appreciate the dedicated efforts and caring nature of these and all children who continue to help in our cause.

This group of friends made a generous donation to the Animal Welfare Society after collecting money from a yard sale. Here they are with one of the many kittens we've had available for adoption over the past few weeks. Thank you all for your donation and your dedication to our cause!

Our thanks go out to the Girl Scouts of Troop 1888. They recently held a donation drive for the Animal Welfare Society. Thanks to their hard work, they ended up with a sizable donation of toys, treats, towels, and many other things the shelter is always in need of. They even presented us with a check to further support our cause. Here are just a few of the scouts posing with our resident Humane Education assistant, Chase. Thanks for generosity ladies!

Emma came to the Animal Welfare Society for a friend's birthday party and donated her own money to benefit the animals. She was told about our medical fund and introduced to Poppy, a puppy who had been abused and brought to the AWS by an animal control officer. The tears in her eyes said it all...When she came back for her Hero Tour, she wanted her picture taken with only one animal; you guessed it, Poppy, who is thankfully doing much better. Thank you Emma for your donation and empathy for all animals in need.

We at the AWS would like to thank Liam for his recent donation of towels, dog toys, and copy paper, among other things. Liam had a great time visiting the animals at the shelter, particularly the dogs. He's done his homework, as he knew many of the dog breeds, and got along well with them all. He would love to be a volunteer at the shelter when he's old enough and we'd love to have him. Thanks for your generosity Liam!

Maya has had a long history with animals, particularly with the many residing at her home. Her sister has made many donations to the AWS and has even participated in our summer program, so Maya decided it was time she got involved. She generously donated a large donation of food, treats, and toys to help all of the animals residing at the shelter. We thank Maya for her donation and can't wait to see her and her sister again real soon.

Meet little Elise. When her 3rd birthday came around, she decided she had enough toys and instead wanted presents for the animals at the shelter. She ended up bringing to the shelter a sizable donation of food, litter, and other necessities. As you can see, she particularly likes cats and had a blast visiting with some of our adoptable ones. Thanks for your donation Elise!

Being a lover of animals, Sydney knew she had to do something to help out the AWS. So Sydney collected some food and then went about asking friends and family for money to donate. She even managed to get her brothers to donate the money they got from the tooth fairy. For her hard work and generous donation, we at the AWS thank Sydney.

When Kyle and Hannah were deciding what to do for their birthdays they decided to have a big party. But rather than gifts for themselves, they asked for items on the AWS Wish List. This pair of considerate siblings must have a lot of friends because it resulted in a large donation for the animals at the shelter. They brought kitten food, litter, and toys, as well as, gift cards and stamps. For their donation and generosity, all of us at the AWS thank Kyle and Hannah.

Jeffrey just adores cats, so in order to help all of those at the shelter, he donated several boxes of canned cat food. While on his tour, Jeffrey got along great with the animals and asked many good questions. We may have a future AWS employee in this young man. Thanks for your donation Jeffrey!

For her 11th birthday, Faith asked her friends to bring presents for the animals at the shelter instead of for her. Once the festivities were over, Faith and her friends brought a sizable donation of toys, food, collars, Frontline, and more over to the shelter. For her kind heart and the generosity of Faith and her friends, everyone at the AWS is very grateful.

On Wednesday, February 16 third-grade students from the Mildred L. Day Elementary presented AWS with donations that they had gathered as part of a school-sponsored donation event. The students from Mrs. Ducas' and Mrs. Labbe's 3rd grades collected almost 250 items, including food, litter, cat and dog treats, for our shelter animals. We thank them for their great contribution. They will help many of our shelter friends.

On Saturday, February 12 a group of parents and students from Lebanon Elementary had a Hero Tour of AWS. These students, along with their teacher, Stevi-Lynn Davis, collected items for the shelter over the holiday season and brought them in on Saturday. The group had fun touring the shelter and seeing first-hand how their donations will be used. Thank you for remembering our furry friends.

Bella learned about the AWS from attending one of our Stretch Beyond classes, so when it came time to come up with a family project fundraiser for Hanukkah she had the perfect idea. Bella put out word to her school, younger brother Noah told his daycare, and sister Elaina pitched in as well. Together they amassed a massive donation of supplies and money for the AWS. Baby brother Sam was there "in spirit," but no doubt he'll grow up to be a Hero just like his siblings. Here are Bella, Elaina, and Noah with our resident ferrets. We're grateful for their wonderful generosity.

The young ladies of Girl Scout Troop 387, from South Berwick, recently held a Rollerskating event. To make the most of it, they asked all who attended to bring a donation for the AWS. Everyone did so and they ended up amassing a car full of donations; everything from dog food to cat litter. Thanks for your donations girls!

Caleb Heyland and Talia Auen are members of the Animal Welfare Society's after school program, the Humane Action League. They raised more than $100. to buy supplies for the AWS residents. Here they are with Therapy Dog, Chase, and a basket full of goodies. For more information about the Humane Action League, call the shelter at 207-985-3244 x 109.

For her birthday, Julia asked that her guests bring items to donate to the AWS instead of gifts for her. Due to the generosity of her guests she ended up donating a sizable amount of items and money. Julia has been active in AWS programs and classes since the 2nd Grade and is currently part of the Stretch Beyond Program at Kennebunk Elementary School. At the rate she's going, we might just have a future AWS employee in young Julia. Here she is having fun with one of our resident dogs. Many thanks for your donation and devotion Julia!

Meet Girl Scout Troop #75 from Kennebunk. These young ladies were charitable enough to make a sizable donation of food, treats, and other supplies to the shelter. Thanks for your support and your love of animals girls!

This lovely young lady, who's spending time with a cute little kitten, is Caitlin. Caitlin recently made a generous donation of food and money to the AWS. We're always grateful for the help and support we get from kind-hearted donators like Caitlin. Thanks Cailtin!

Meet Daniel. For his birthday, rather than get more stuff for himself, Daniel had his guests bring donations for the animals. The result was a very generous donation of goods and money. Here you can see Daniel enjoying the company of one of our resident ferrets. Many thanks Daniel!

Megan, from Sanford, wanted to do something to help all of the animals in need. So along with her father, Ryan, she brought a large donation of food, litter, and other supplies to the shelter. Here she is with a friend and the sizable donation. Thanks for your generosity Megan!

Our thanks go out to the boys and girls from the Sanford Soccer Association. They recently brought us a very generous donation consisting of kitty litter, cat food, blankets, towels, cash, and much, much more. You can see the donation at left along with a couple of star players. Their love of animals is undeniable and we greatly appreciate their support.

For his recent birthday, Matthew asked that his guests bring presents for the animals at AWS instead of for him. The result was a very generous donation and $120 to help us care for the many animals in need. Here is Matthew spending time with one of the dwarf hamsters we've had for adoption. Thanks for you donation Matthew!

Back in the heat of the summer, these young ladies (assisted by little brother) held a lemonade stand to benefit the Animal Welfare Society. They took the money to the store and purchased much needed supplies, kitten food, treats and toys!! What a great bunch of kids! The staff, volunteers and residents appreciate your commitment to animals!

These girls from Lyman wanted to do something to help as many needy animals as they could, so they made a very generous donation of cash and supplies to AWS. Among the supplies were many items on our wish list, like Frontline, wet cat food, and paper towels. Here they are with one of the many cats we have available for adoption. Thanks for your generosity - you are truly animal welfare heroes!

These young ladies from Limerick are from Girl Scout Troop 2135 and they are animal lovers. They were very excited to meet lots of shelter pets on their recent hero tour and brought a donation that they had collected on behalf of the animals. These fresh faces are sure to promote kindness to animals and animal welfare where ever they go.

For her 7th birthday, Maria wanted to help the homeless animals at the Animal Welfare Society so she asked her friends and family NOT to give her presents but to give presents to the AWS. As you can see, they were VERY generous. Some people even wrote checks so that the Shelter can buy the medicine for the sick animals. Maria must have told them to read the Wish List on the website because the presents were perfect! There were toys, treats, peanut butter for dog enrichment and food for the animals. Here she is with one of the many cats we have available for adoption, as well as, her generous donation. Thanks Maria!

Meet Abby, a young lady enrolled in our AWS Summer Camp program. She has been having such an amazing time in our Camp that she decided to give back by making a sizable donation of supplies for the animals. Here she is with a darling little puppy. Thanks for your donation Abby!

Meet Kayla, from Biddeford. She recently had her 6th birthday party at a bowling alley, but instead of asking for gifts, she had everyone bring in a donation for the AWS. She ended up with a stack of food, toys, and and many other items from our donation wish list. Here she is with Chase, our resident Golden Retriever. Thanks for your donation Kayla!

This little lady is Allie from Saco. Allie is a lover of animals and wanted to do something to help those in need. She operated her own lemonade stand and donated the proceeds to the AWS to help us care for all the lost and abandoned animals. Thanks Allie!

Meet Anabel, Erin, and Julianne. While most kids are spending their summers on vacation or playing games, these girls decided to devote some time to help animals in need. They ran a successful lemonade stand and donated all proceeds to the AWS. Here they are presenting their donation check to a couple of lovable canines. Thanks for your donation girls!
