BUXTON PUPPY MILL SEIZURE UPDATE (DAY 13)

Almost two weeks since the Buxton puppy mill seizure, the Department of Animal Welfare is desperately trying to find a building to house the majority of the millŐs population so that the agencies involved can provide a higher level of care. On a positive note, The Narragansett Number One Foundation informed AWS that the organization will be donating $10,000 to be split with The Animal Refuge League in support of this massive undertaking. With recent newborns adding to the total numbers, such generosity helps put a dent in the debt that continues to grow as a result of this unexpected drain on both sheltersŐ resources. Meanwhile, Katie Lisnik of the Humane Society of the United States has stepped in to coordinate volunteers specifically for the on-site animals and Susan Britt of The Animal Refuge League makes preparations for foster care in the event that it is needed.
