Adoptions of the recently spayed and neutered puppy mill dogs have been going smoothly as staff work through a busy Open House weekend at the Animal Welfare Society. Meanwhile the Portland facility that has been housing the majority of the seized animals since the move from the original site in Buxton, recently received 20 surrendererd dogs from a local breeding facility. The Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland and AWS continue their mission to provide care for animals in need in a mission to eliminate neglect and cruelty of animals. With this unexpected influx of yet more dogs, the two facilities' work at the Portland shelter may not be over for some time.
People who are interested in adopting are encouraged to keep checking our website as these dogs and pups will be posted when ready for adoption. Both shelters are still in need of monetary donations.
