BUXTON PUPPY MILL SEIZURE
UPDATE DAY FOUR
Planet Dog Foundation Donates Toys and a Check for $5000!
As the days unfold AWS bustles with their usual business of adoptions and intakes while trying to grasp the enormity of caring for shelter animals and recently seized animals at a local Buxton puppy mill. For 45 weary workers at the facility, Planet Dog was a sight for sore eyes when they appeared with a carload of dog toys and a check for $5000 that will be split between the Animal Welfare Society and Westbrook's Animal Refuge League (www.arlgp.org). This type of thing is a real moral booster, something that's so improtant to keep the dedicated crew going day after day. When asked how things were going at the Buxton site, an AWS Shelter Manager commented, "Everybody seems to be holding up pretty well. They're tired and sweaty. We were so excited to receive the toys and be handing them out to dogs who probably never saw them before. It was very uplifting!"
The Animal Welfare Society has been blessed with an outpouring of response for new volunteers to assist with the caring of both shelter animals and the Buxton puppy mill animals. The AWS will be returning phone calls within the next couple of weeks and taking inventory of people's capabilities and availabilities. They would like to thank everyone for their support and patience in the meantime.
