AWS Works Non-Stop to Care for Shelter Animals as well as Buxton Animals
W. Kennebunk and Buxton –

The Animal Welfare Society continues to work around the clock to ensure that all of its shelter animals as well as the recently seized Buxton puppy mill animals are provided with proper care. The Animal Refuge League of Westbrook has been working right along side them cleaning kennels, bathing, feeding and watering the neglected pooches since the seizure took place early Tuesday, August 21. The Salvation Army has stepped in with a cantine to supply food for workers and the York County Emergency Management Agency is supplying tents for various work stations.

At the request of the stateŐs Animal Welfare Department and the Buxton Police Department, AWS is proud to be part of the solution and will continue to serve these animals with the courtŐs decision pending. Several veterinarians have also visited the site working long hours to ensure sure all are assessed and, if needed, given the proper medication.
The Animal Welfare Society and the Animal Refuge League in Westbrook (www.arlgp.org) are asking for monetary donations as well as supplies. Canned dog and puppy food, bedding (no heavy quilts), dog toys, chews as well as cleaning supplies like bleach and paper towels are in great demand.
