West Kennebunk, ME (June 25, 2007) - The Animal Welfare Society of West Kennebunk, Maine, a private, non- profit humane society serving18 surrounding communities, has announced the hiring of Carol Ann MacKinnon as Program Coordinator.  She will be responsible for overseeing several programs including education, volunteerism, low-income spay/neuter and PAWS designed to provide shelter for pets of victims of domestic violence. In addition she will serve as public relations ambassador for the shelter and represent AWS in government issues concerning animal welfare.  A lifelong animal lover, Ms. MacKinnon has been an advocate for them for several years and brings a strong background with her: "I'm excited to be a part of such a well-respected organization and look forward to furthering The Animal Welfare Society's mission by promoting responsible pet ownership and the humane treatment of animals."
